The Halslhütte in winter is home to a special kind of magic. Away from the hustle and bustle of the ski slopes, you can hear the crunch of the snow beneath your feet. No-one else is there: only you and plenty of snow. The colder months of the year up here on the Würzjoch are deep in snow. Every twig is covered, and next to the cross-country skiing track you’ll find plenty of hare and deer tracks. Look forward to an impressive landscape and an extra special winter’s day. Snowshoe walks in the Puez Geisler Nature Reserve
The UNESCO World Heritage site awaits in all its white splendour!
Sturdy winter clothing, pop on a hat and pull it down well over your ears. Then you’re ready for off! It’s easy to make footprints in the soft snow as you follow the gentle uphill slope. Starting from the Villnöss Russis junction, head towards the Würzjoch, where after 30 minutes you will reach our Halslhütte at the heart of a wonderful winter landscape.
A second track runs along the narrow, winding mountain stream towards the Aferer Valley. Alternatively you can march from the Ski Chalet/Pfannspitz gondola lift into the valley and reach us after walking in leisurely fashion for around an hour.

Are you looking for a really cool winter attraction for all the family of the kind that you don’t see every day? Then take a look at our unique snow tubing track right next to the Halslhütte! Slide down the slope opposite the Halslhütte on a giant tyre. It’s fantastic fun for young and old alike! When you’ve had your fill of sliding head back inside into the warm chalet with its heated tiled stove and the most delicious treats from our Halslhütte restaurant.

In summer one of the most popular pass roads in South Tyrol, in winter it transforms into one of the most magical cross-country skiing tracks in the Dolomites region. From the Russis junction start out by heading towards the Würzjoch in the Puez Geisler Nature Park, and after a just short time you’ll find yourself at the Halslhütte. A warming herbal tea in the Halslhütte is perfect while you take your first breather. Then the route continues up to the Würzjoch, where the majestic Peitlerkofel deserves your full attention. On the return journey the most delicious South Tyrolean specialities are waiting for you, freshly cooked and prepared with love. Then there’ll be nothing stopping you: unclip your cross-country skis, stop for a break and enjoy. That’s what winter at the Halslhütte mountain inn is like.
